Raising The Level Of Cross-Country Skiing In America

four races in five days is the reason i came here - a lot of opportunity for images in a short period of time. the other reason was that i wanted to see a US athlete getting a podium finish. so on that latter point it was a bit of a disappointment. it's tough, though, when you pin your podium hopes on sprints. the race doesn't necessarily go to the racer who's the fittest or the fastest. you gotta stay out of trouble and take good risks and make good decisions. there's no guarantees. that said, andy newell is about as close to a sure thing as you can find in sprinting. the last time he missed the heats was march 2005. including olympics and world championships. minus the tour de ski and duesseldorf 2005 which he didn't attend. that's unbelievable, really.

i am very minnesota-centric, so i was stoked at kuzzy's results over the last two days. hellz yeah.

photography went well for the most part. solid stuff in general, and i was psyched at how my experiments turned out - the wide shots of bird going around the downhill corner and the women with the sun and mountains behind them. i feel like i got quality shots of all the US athletes, and that was a goal here. now i just have to get their sponsors to buy some of them. :)
