Is anyone interested in sharing rides or providing rides from the Bozeman airport to West Yellowstone? The shuttle is darn expensive at something like $100/person, so a rental car divided by 4 people is way more affordable. Jess Snyder and myself ar…

I don't know how much bike racing I'll do this summer. There are two mtb races I know I'll do for sure, one of which is a 24hr race, but I'll probably get sucked into at least a couple more. Right now I'm toying with the idea of running in the Jay marathon, which would have me running a lot more than I normally do. Its a 31 mile trail run, that goes over Mt. Jay, and often takes at least twice the time of your slowest marathon... who WOULDN'T want to race in that?

By the way....coming from a runner with bad knees.....(I still run and race a lot though) try a) ice baths and simple yoga and if it really hurts on pavement b) running off pavement or snowshoe running. Ice is king though!

We have lots of small (1-3 min) hills around here, but only one or two good 10 min+ hill for rollerskiing. Rob Brandlee promised to show me the good rollerski routes when I'm in Wayland again next summer.

Great post on the biking thread. You could have added bad knees to the reasons some don't run (I haven't for 10+ years). I spent 3 weeks last summer in Wayland, and had a wonderful time going on club rides through that area of Mass. Didn't see many places I'd want to roller ski, however.

I thought we were going to be cat 4-evers together! I think you can be a perfectly mediocre bike racer and be a good ski racer, but I don't think you can do both well. But that is just my experience :)

So Alex, I was just reading your question about bike racing vs. ski racing and I have come to the conclusion that you are just nuts. A hardcore NUT!

Back in the day when I used to be a faster skier I also raced mt. bikes and I raced both well. Maybe cause there was a fair amount of running in a race...when I did a road race though it was a different story...dropped from the start! So if you figure anything out let me know. I would like to move up from one of the worst road cyclists in the world!
